Our Experience With Nomad
Now, let’s take a look at our experience with Nomad eSIM. To give you an idea, I purchased the Nomad eSIM during a Thailand trip. I wanted to test the Nomad eSIM, but I previously had an eSIM from Airalo.
Purchase
Buying an eSIM on Nomad is pretty easy. Once you’re on the website, you simply need to choose your destination and preferred plan. The process is straightforward and takes a few minutes.
One thing I like about Nomad is that they offer short-term, but you can always top it up if you need. I also love their modern website.
When it comes to payment methods, you’ll have a couple of options:
- Credit cards
- Paypal
After purchasing a new eSIM, you can install and activate it right away via the app/website.
You’ll also get an email confirmation including steps if it’s your first time using an eSIM.
Usability
Nomad is easy to use. You can find the country/region you’re visiting by clicking on Shop Plans in the menu. You’ll find local, regional, and global plans for up to 60 days.
Mobile Data
I was able to access my data right away.
In Thailand, the network supported is AIS, which is the same network supported by Airalo. Although, I was very surprised because I got connected to the 4G, not the LTE (which I was getting with Airalo).
Support
I sent a message to the support via the Contact Us form. It took 4h30 to get a reply. I believe this is relatively slow if I compare it to other eSIM providers.
If you need help, you can contact the support by clicking on Help Center. Then, click on the Contact Us button.
Our Opinion About Nomad
Nomad has a modern website that offers many global, regional, and local plans. Although, I’m surprised they don’t offer longer plans than 60 days. In fact, most plans are up to 30 days. That said, you can always top up your plan before you run out of data.
If I compare them to Airalo or Holafly, I feel like their team is relatively small, which could explain why the support was slow to get back to me.
Finally, I believe the coverage was better on Airalo, but their global plans are more extensive than the ones offered by Airalo.
